Many runners often ignore dangerous weather conditions and still run or even compete in marathons. Dangerous weather conditions are not just snow, ice, or rain. During such heat, even a trained person can experience sun or heat stroke.
In high heat, the heart is no longer able to function as it should to properly supply the body with blood. After all, everything is related in the body of human being. Extremely heavy sweating begins during the running in heat. Even if a runner drinks enough fluids, the body does not absorb them, as a result, the intense dehydration is started.
Such an intense dehydration can lead to delirium syndrome that disrupts blood flow to the human brain and the psyche of human being is vulnerable at this state. A person loses orientation, resists to everything, does not know what he is doing: does not allow other people around to help him, resists physically, although it is necessary to connect a drip. The central nervous system of such a person is disrupted. There may also be several cases of sun or heat stroke. Symptoms include dizziness, headache, weakness, bloating, and sometimes even seizures. If the person is trained and healthy, 25 degrees could be the limit temperature that does not pose a health risk.
It is not enough to drink water, the blood vessels still must react accordingly, as they must dilate when the cardiac output increases. However, if there are sclerotic lesions in the blood vessels, they are unable to do it. It should be borne in mind that during the run the body experiences a huge load and tachycardia begins, the volume of blood released by the heart increases, in addition, due to the stress experienced, many other reactions occur in the body. For example, the adrenal glands make a lot of corticosteroids, while the cerebral cortex begins to suppress everything, as a result, all reflexes slow down, blood pressure drops, breathing slows down, but the heart continues to work too fast. It can even be a cause of death.
If you decide to continue your running workouts, you need to remember a few things. The most important thing during the heat is to drink plenty of fluids. With the help of water, the body is cooled. Lack of fluids thickens the blood and makes it harder for the heart. It is recommended to drink mineral water, but not carbonated. The second important thing to pay attention to is what clothes you are wearing. It is necessary to choose simple cotton clothes. Synthetic materials prevent the body from removing heat through the skin. In addition, synthetic material can irritate the skin while you are sweating.
